Symbolism questions

The name of the current novel im reading is You Dont Know me by David Klass.
The basic idea of the book is that John is trying to fugure out who he really is. He gives significant names to specific people in his life depending on their physical appearance or their personality. he has a bad life, always getting hit by his step father and he finally meets the girl of his dreams but in the they dont work our and his step father almost kills him
Thre are gender stereotypes bacasue John is always judging pepople for who they are and wht they look like.
John , His step father, His real father, Billy, Tom.
John's step dad was one of the main characters and he played an important role becaause he was one of the main reasons why he acted the way he did.
What is ALL the characters in your current novel were female? Please explain how that would affect the novel.
symbolism to me means something that represents something or someone in a certain way.
